Action for the Amazon Fires

1566416656-amazon-on-fire-960x540Millions, maybe billions of people are now aware of the fires in the Amazon. I think it is another big turning point in people waking up. Maybe for some they might even have a realization that XR have a point. My FB feed is predominantly about the fires. I expect the notifications from environment organisations (GreenPeace, WWF, Amazon Watch and all other rainforest and Amazon NGO’s) and some celebrities who are also environment or climate crusaders like Leonardo DiCaprio but many more are sending their messages about the Amazon on Instagram. And many news stations and papers have carried the news to the public. Even my 90 year old Mum saw it on the ABC.

Some, including Leonardo DiCaprio, with 34 million followers,Dicaprio 34 million followershave said we need to do more than pray.  (The evidence for prayer and Intention when thought in the energetic quantum field is worthy of a discussion of its own but not my focus now.) Leonardo, in his Instagram post that received about 3 million likes, suggested the following list of things to do…

“The Amazon needs more than our prayers. So what can YOU do?⁣LDicaprioAmazonfires

✔As an emergency response, donate to frontline Amazon groups working to defend the forest. ⁣
✔Consider becoming a regular supporter of the Rainforest Alliance’s community forestry initiatives across the world’s most vulnerable tropical forests, including the Amazon; this approach is by far the most effective defense against deforestation and natural forest fires, but it requires deep, long-term collaboration between the communities and the public and private sectors. ✔Stay on top of this story and keep sharing posts, tagging news agencies and influencers. ⁣
✔Be a conscious consumer, taking care to support companies committed to responsible supply chains.⁣ Eliminate or reduce consumption of beef; cattle ranching is one of the primary drivers of Amazon deforestation.
✔When election time comes, VOTE for leaders who understand the urgency of our climate crisis and are willing to take bold action—including strong governance and forward-thinking policy.⁣”

One I haven’t seen is making use of current laws and advocating for changing the law. Two earth jurisprudence laws are Ecocide, which needs ratification in the Geneva Convention of Human Rights (United Nations) and Rights of Nature, which has been enacted by several Nation States in differing ways such as Ecuador including it in their constitution.

In most countries like Australia and the USA Environmental Laws actually allow extractive industries and developers to apply to destroy nature, rather than protect it. They need to be changed within a framework of economic change, where economic growth is not more important than natural habitat.

However, there are some existing laws that Earth Protectors, led by Polly Higgins last year before her death, and afterwards by her team, are testing in courts now.

A special division of the UN on human rights has recently announced how current breaches can be interpreted in current UN law. See more later.

Greta Thunburg, when talking before and during the time that Notre Dam was burning referred to houses burning and would agree that if your house was on fire you wouldn’t just sit around talking about it, you would put the fire out. She said she wants us to ‘panic.’ And that is true for the Amazon. The rampant fires need to be put out now, and a framework needs to be put in place to address the underlying conditions for people taking such irresponsible and selfish acts. The same is true for all ecocide happening in every country around the world. Natures Rights needs to be honoured and legislated. More on this below.

Whilst heart powered/quantum field generated intentions travel the plasma or black space to raise vibrations of love consciousness creating a more compassionate and grateful human population, laws need to be put in place to stop pro-destruction incentives, deter and punish corporations and the people behind them, those acting under persuasion of them (politicians) and those who sponsor and insure them.

On a personal, family and community front we need to share the knowledge we gain and be the person we would like the whole world to reflect.  Sometimes it is not the outcome of an action you take, but the intention and action you took that adds to revolutionary or radical change.

After writing this I listened to Charles Eisenstein talking on the topic so for more insight you might like to watch that here: – Amazon Rainforest Fires –Avoid this trap.

What other legal or influential bodies can help in looking at this crisis?

Quotes:

The International Tribunal for the Rights of Nature will judge the catastrophe in the Amazon

Tribunal rights of nature“The massive fires in the Amazon, which cause a catastrophe with planetary impacts, will be judged by the “International Tribunal for the rights of nature”, at its next session of the month of December in the city of Santiago de Chile, just announced The Secretariat of the court.

In a special session the statements of representatives of human and non-human beings affected, as well as specialists, especially from Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru will be received. From now on, in order to be able to have as much information as possible on the subject, the corresponding complaints will be accepted in the secretariat@therightsofnature.com

On that occasion will be analyzed and established the respective responsibilities of the maximum government authorities, as well as companies, corporations and especially of activities that cause the scourge that is affecting hundreds of thousands of hectares of the Amazon and other regions of the region. And also the procedure will be established for the court to issue the corresponding judgment….”

In a separate article existing laws are highlighted by United nations experts…”Failing to protect biodiversity can constitute a violation of the right to a healthy environment, a right that is legally recognised by 155 States and should now be globally recognised as fundamental, they said.

“The protection of biological diversity is indispensable to realise the right to available, accessible, sustainable and nutritious food. Industrial agriculture being one of the main culprit of biodiversity decline, it is vital to have effective and balanced policies to protect ecosystems’ health while producing sufficient nutritious food for all,” said Hilal Elver, the Special Rapporteur on the right to food.”

The legal test case Polly started is here: Earth Law Press Release December 2018

“The Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy Eric Wiebes, the CEO of Royal Dutch Shell Ben van Beurden and the CEO of Shell Netherlands Marjan van Loon and have been identified as principal suspects in an Independent Preliminary Examination into the potential crime of Climate Ecocide…Shell has repeatedly been put on notice. A high-profile shareholder challenge was raised in May 2018. A legal notice of intent to sue, for failing to act on climate change, has been served by Friends of the Earth Netherlands. The Philippine Commission on Human Rights are currently holding an international climate enquiry into the responsibility of Carbon Majors, including Shell. The Dutch Urgenda Foundation filed a successful climate suit against the Dutch Government, who now seek to challenge the legality of the ruling.”

Greta Thunberg speech:

“Adults keep saying: “We owe it to the young people to give them hope.” But I don’t want your hope. I don’t want you to be hopeful. I want you to panic. I want you to feel the fear I feel every day. And then I want you to act.

I want you to act as you would in a crisis. I want you to act as if our house is on fire. Because it is.”

Charles Eisenstein – says avoid the trap of blaming and directing rage at certain people or groups. He spoke of morphic resonance, and to trust innate knowledge. Every act has cosmic significance.  We need to change the mindset that has destroyed the earth, which is the same that is causing despair – a mechanical dead universe that we are separate from. He talks of heart function when the mind has no understanding how to get from point A to Point B. Once we have heart brain resonance we can see that the mind has been immersed in logic and in separation.

We need not feel helpless and hopeless. There is much to do and be.
